Escape From PETSCII Castle C64, Preview 4
A downloadable game
Current gameplay of my soon-to-be-released first-person shooter game for the Commodore 64 - Escape From PETSCII Castle. An adaptation of my PET release of the same game, which itself was inspired by Wolfenstein 3D.
Current version:
- two different enemies (sprites with masking behind walls)
- items for pick up as you go along - ammo, health, gold, keys
- different weapons - knife, pistol, rifle and machine gun (for now graphics from amazing Grey)

Looks better and better! Can the enemies also open doors if they "hear" you shooting? Can they try to come looking, find you, or is such a thing not going to be in the game?
I also wonder if it would be possible to have hazards in the environment. Not over-the-top-stompers but ... maybe gassed rooms that slowly drain your energy if you don't find another way or a mask maybe. Just throwing ideas around.
Yes the enemies hear if you fire a bullet near them and come looking for you. eg near the beginning that second robot heard the gunfire and opens the door coming after me (I knew he was coming from there so waited.) Instead if you get closer to one and knife it instead it doesnt alert anyone nearby.
I am kinda done so wont add a hazard like you said, but if you watched the video there are things like rooms you can enter but cant exit until you find a key. And enemies that wait in cubbyholes until you walk by. Etc
I was in a bouncing car when watching, so, hells yeah, I am ready for this. :3
Some months ago I suggested mouse controls and a map editor ...do you think something like that might be possible, or would you say that's not?
Mouse control just isn't going to happen. I made a map editor for myself - it is a google spreadsheets. So I might clean that up sometime and simply put it out there. Probably depends on whether people actually play this.
Good job! :-) 3D FPS-videogames for Commodore 64 in development
Oh great .. thanks for including it with those amazing games!
Very cool! Can't wait to see the final result!
